Introducing The Mythical Zarude
Revealed on Pokémon Day 2020, Zarude is a new Mythical Pokémon that will be released for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield alongside the release of the 2020 Pokémon Movie. Zarude is said to live deep in forests and will relentlessly attack any who would dare to enter it’s territory. It is also capable of growing vines from various parts of it’s boy which it can use for a variety of tasks, including swinging form tree to tree, grabbing berries from tree branches and healing wounds. Zarude is both a Grass Type and Dark Type Pokémon, it is classified as the Rogue Monkey Pokémon. It has the ability Leaf Guard, which prevents it from being afflicted by status conditions in sunny weather. Zarude’s signature move is Jungle Healing. Jungle Healing heals the Hit Points and status conditions of both Zarude and it’s ally Pokémon. Zarude’s reveal was met with both positive and negative reactions from the fan base online. Some liked it due to it’s signature move, some for it’s color scheme, some for it’s lore. Among those who disliked it are those who didn’t like the fact that it’s ability is not all that good from a competitive standpoint. Others disliked it due to the fact that Gamefreak have recently started to just hand out Mythical Pokémon via Mystery Gift instead of allowing players to explore a new area and to catch it for themselves. Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on I personally would like to see how it does during Max Raid battles, as well as what it’s stat distribution looks like. I am of the opinion that I should not make an opinion on Mythicals or Legendary Pokémon in general without first trying them in game. With that I look forward to trying it out sometime between the Isle of Armour DLC and the Crown Tundra DLC.
