Review: Mega Man Battle Network 3
Released on December 6th, 2002 for the Gameboy Advance. Battle Network 3 is a sequel to Battle Network 2. The game stars Lan Hikari, MegaMan, Mayl Sakurai, Roll, Dex Oyama, GutsMan, Yai Ayanokoji, Glyde, Eugene Chaud, and ProtoMan. The story takes place in the year 200X as Doctor Wily has reformed the evil organization WWW with the sole purpose of releasing Alpha. Alpha is the evil prototype internet. In order to release Alpha, Wily needs the TetraCodes, which are the passwords to necessary for releasing him. To achieve this end Wily incorporates the aid of several rogue NetNavis. These NetNavis are FlameMan, PlantMan, BeastMan, FlashMan, DesertMan, BubbleMan, and DrillMan. Wily also tricks Bass into helping his cause. As Lan and friends are trying to prevent Wily from getting the TetraCodes. Wily is using these NetNavis to cause havoc in the real world as well as on the internet. These incident range from releasing all the animals at the zoo, to cutting the power at a hospital. Unfortunately despite Lan and friend’s best efforts Wily still get his hands on the TetraCodes and releases Alpha with the help of Bass. After being released Alpha proceeds to “eat” both Wily and Bass. Lan and MegaMan fight and defeat Alpha. Alpha manages to destroy part of the internet when in a desperate attempt to stop his destruction, one that ultimately fails. Although MegaMan does die while saving Lan, Lan’s father manages to bring MegaMan by using the backup data found in his own father’s letter which he had left behind along with his personality data. Battle Network 3 introduces some changes including limits on how many of certain types of chips you can have. As well as Navi Customization, which allows for upgrades to the MegaBuster. Three new Style Changes are introduced two of which are exclusives in the NA/EU versions. This game like all MegaMan Battle Network games is amazing, and one I would recommend at least giving it a try.
